Tour Details

The Pamukkale Tour is one of the most popular cultural and nature excursions from Marmaris. Pamukkale, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its stunning white travertine terraces and the ancient city of Hierapolis. This tour offers visitors the chance to explore both the natural beauty and historical heritage of this unique destination.

The tour begins with an early morning pick-up from hotels in Marmaris and nearby areas. After a comfortable journey, guests arrive at the Pamukkale region. During the guided tour, visitors will explore the Pamukkale travertines and the ancient city of Hierapolis. Important historical landmarks such as the ancient theatre, Roman baths and ancient ruins can be seen during the visit.

Guests will also have the opportunity to walk on the famous travertine terraces and enjoy the beautiful landscape. Those who wish may also swim in the Cleopatra Antique Pool, a historic thermal pool located in the ancient city area. The Pamukkale Tour is a must-see experience for visitors interested in nature and history.

FAQ

How long is the tour, and what time do we leave Marmaris?

This is a full-day tour with a very early start. Departure from Marmaris is typically between 06:00 and 07:00 in the morning. The total duration, including travel time, is approximately 12–14 hours. You will return to Marmaris in the evening, usually around 20:00–21:00. The long journey is worth it, as Pamukkale is one of Turkey’s most famous natural wonders.

Is hotel pickup and drop-off included from Marmaris?

Yes, the tour includes round-trip hotel transfer from most central hotels in Marmaris. Pickup times vary slightly depending on your hotel’s location, but you will be informed of the exact time when you book. Be ready at your hotel lobby at least 10 minutes before the scheduled pickup.

What is included in the tour price? Are there any extra costs?

Typical inclusions are:

  • Hotel pickup and drop-off

  • Air-conditioned bus transportation

  • Professional English-speaking guide

  • Breakfast (a light snack) and lunch

  • Entrance fee to Pamukkale travertines and Hierapolis ancient city

Extra costs (not included): Drinks during lunch, entrance to Cleopatra’s Antique Pool (swimming pool), and personal expenses. Bring extra Turkish Lira if you wish to swim in Cleopatra’s Pool.

What should I wear and bring for the Pamukkale tour?

  • Wear: Light, comfortable clothes and walking shoes. You will be walking on ancient ruins and travertines.

  • Bring: Swimsuit and a towel (if you plan to swim in the travertines or Cleopatra’s Pool), sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a camera, and a water bottle.

  • Important: You must walk barefoot on the white travertine terraces to protect them. The surface can be slippery and hard, so be careful.

Is the tour suitable for children, elderly people, or those with mobility issues?

The tour involves a significant amount of walking (around 2–3 km) on uneven, slippery, and sometimes steep surfaces (travertines and ancient ruins). It is not recommended for people with severe mobility issues, difficulty walking long distances, or those who use a wheelchair, as the terrain is challenging. Children aged 4 and above can join, but parents should supervise them closely, especially on the wet travertines. Elderly guests with good mobility can participate, but comfortable, non-slip shoes are essential.
