No, you do not need any previous experience. The Cappadocia horse tour is suitable for beginners as well as experienced riders. The horses are well-trained and calm, and the guide will match you with a horse according to your skill level. A short safety briefing is provided before the tour starts.
Tour durations vary, but the most common options are 1 hour, 2 hours, and 4 hours (sunset or sunrise tours). The 2-hour tour is the most popular as it covers the main valleys and fairy chimneys. You can choose from morning, afternoon, or sunset departure times. Hotel pickup and drop-off are usually included.
Wear long pants (jeans or trekking trousers) to avoid chafing against the saddle. Closed-toe shoes with a small heel (such as riding boots or sneakers) are recommended. Do not wear flip-flops or sandals. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a bottle of water, and a camera. In colder months, gloves and a jacket are essential.
Age: Children under 6 are generally not allowed. Children aged 6–12 can ride with an accompanying adult on a separate horse.
Weight: Most operators have a weight limit of 90–100 kg (200–220 lbs) for the safety of the horses.
Health: Pregnant women, people with severe back problems, or those with recent surgeries are advised not to join. Please inform the operator in advance about any health conditions.
The tour may continue in light rain or mild weather, but in case of heavy rain, thunderstorms, snowstorms, or extreme heat (above 35°C), the tour will be postponed or cancelled for safety reasons. If cancelled, you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund. Always check the weather forecast and bring a raincoat if needed.
